Happy New Year 03/01/10

2009 was a pretty mediocre year so I thought I'd kick of the new year with a new site.

It's a site that does what it says on the tin... info about me, Roger Walsh.

I'm a print and web designer, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I've been working as a designer since 1999 and have been with Silverink since 2000.

I started off mainly in print but I'm now doing 99% web based work (HTML, CSS and Javascript). As a designer I strongly believe that what you see is most definitely not everything. Functionality goes hand in hand with aesthetics. I am a very capable asp / vbscript programmer and have been recently working in .NET using C#. I also know enough php to get by. I taught myself basic programming in order to be able to understand why my design may not be integrating, or to ensure that what I design is possible. I'll always consider myself first and foremost a designer, markup is what I enjoy, programming a necessary evil!

Outside of this virtual world I love getting up to the top of some hill and looking around me.
